The storms led to massive flooding throughout the region, causing chaotic traffic, crashes, and forcing officials to temporarily close the Saw Mill River Parkway due to the heavy rain. Hundreds lost power overnight. On Tuesday, there will be a speed restriction of 35 mph on the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
More rain is expected at times on Tuesday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood watch for the area. The storm system is expected to finally slow down by midday, followed by some intermittent afternoon showers.
